Walls are not just there to be seen; they are there to be looked at.
I embellish them and love to use them as a canvas.
Plaster, mosaics, glass, calligraphy, paint, ink, natural or reconstituted stone, pigments and patinas.
I use every technique, mix them together, create new concepts, allow people to see things or to see them anew.
I dress up our walls in the same way as one would dress for an evening out. I make up the top, fill out the bottom,
add colour by subtle touches. From mere powder, lime, cement, sand or marble, I refine my material, giving it character.
I love starting from scratch, with only an idea or sometimes a feeling.
Then I add water and cover the wall, little by little, be it in a kitchen,
living room, library, lobby, restaurant, shop, reception hall or conference room.
Each wall is different, but each keeps its ears, its soul and its character. Before, after- the aim is to catch the eye
and give it something to look at, to contemplate for a moment. For something to be embellished, it must be magnified.
This requires time, it demands that the artist give something of himself and necessitates a lot of hard work.
Sometimes it also needs hands, several hands, sometimes artists' hands but often children's hands.
Walls are playgrounds for children and there is a little child in me who loves to play....
